As I told earlier, the female kitten daughter of Pussie – Bajita – will give birth a lot of beautiful cats, all of those were well fed in a nice house environment so to say that they weren’t “stray cats” anymore. Borneo – Bajita’s brother – was one of the most intelligent cat, he can do arithmetic “add” very easily as long as two numbers being added were “power of two” such as : 0,1,2,4,8, etc [Mmmm…I am – the cat trainer – a computer scientist, remember ?].
When I touched Borneo and ask him, “Borneo, what is two plus two ?”, Borneo answered, “Meowwwfour…” [Of course, only I who heard the word “four” here, for other people with not enough training of this kind of cat weirdos, it was heard just like an usual “Meoooowww..”].
If Computer Science Department of Indiana University at Bloomington had a postgraduate program for cats, I believe Borneo will pass the “Ph.D-cat” easily in a very short of time. It was a pity they didn’t have it ! [Borneo died in 2002 at the age of 7 years, a comparison of 70 years for human]…
In one fine day, in one of my closet, Bajita gave birth of four beautiful kittens but all of them are male ! Rare occasions, isn’t it ? They were : Levi (black & white), Benito (black & white), Soarez (golden color), and Scuba (golden color). It was around 1995 I guess, because I remember the kittens were born where my house was being reconstructed, alas no roof at that time !
Levi was a very adorable male cat. When my daughter Dessa was studying by lying on the floor reading books, Levi sat and slept in her back. Benito did the same, this time in Ditta’s back. When he was scared, Benito will seek refugee in Asih and Sulis’ room – my sister-in-law room. Scuba was an athletic cat, his golden color and short tail and yet a rather mean face, reminded me of the tough boxer Mike Tyson. Soarez has golden color too, but not as athletic as that of Scuba, yet it was not as slim as Pee Wee though.
As you know, cat lives for as long as 7 years. One-year old cat is just like 10-year old boy, two-year old cat is just like 20 year old youth, and so on. When the age of a male cat is approaching 2 years, it seems to me that they are already ready for mating, as comparatively a human youth begins falling in love with somebody. And this period is the most dangerous period for the young male cat, either he die or succeed. The much stronger and older male cat can flex it muscle to the end, and sometime has a very bad bad effect for young male cat, die ! [This is just my hypothesis though, I am not a veterinary medicine expert, I am just a common cat lover]. Shortly speak, Scuba died of heavy injury in his neck, Benito and Soarez were expelled from the house for unknown reason, presumably they were both forced out of the house by a older muscled male cat during the mating season. Levi lived as long as 6 years, and he died peacefully after waiting for 2 months for my comeback from a Korean tour in 2001. All of those cats usually were being buried in my front yard, bellow a bushy star fruit tree.
Ooops…one thing I forgot. The female cat Bajita was a very generous cats. Why ? I tell you this story : in 1995 I found by accidents four kittens in very different situation for each of them. I found a female kitten Soil – a grey-fur cat - when she was yelling out loud when being dumped by her mother. I found Tootsie – an all-black cat – when he was dumped by somebody in my front ditch. I found Ramirez – a three-color cat – when he just entered my house and seeking to suck my toe – a sign of being left out by one kid. I found Dotti, as the name gets – a dotty-black-on-white cat – when he ate the Whiskas snack I gave in my front yard. All of these 4 kittens were about two-month old when they were found.
In one day, Bajita was giving milk to all of these 8 kittens (Levi, Benito, Soarez, Scuba, Soil, Dotty, Tootsie, and Ramirez). Believe it or not !!!! Too bad, that I can’t show you the photo of this rare occassion, coz FRIENDSTER has not given us that capability in the weblogs yet [weblogs containing photos, to be exact].
The story continued. Bajita died of eating presumably poisoned food, meaning for catching mouse by one of the neighbor, and since all of her kittens were male, Bajita dynasty ended in a very short period. Like a powerful king without prince, the dynasty was gone easily !!!
Accidentally, I fed a golden color mother cat whom I call “Pussie 2”. Although she was very undomesticated – meaning that I can never catch it – yet when giving birth time was come, Pussie 2 decided to give birth in my roof. I don’t know why, usually two months later Pussie 2 will bring down her beautiful kittens from the roof to the ground. One of them was a female kitten named Meese [in Java, I call cats by saying which sounds like “Meeeeeeeeese….”, and all of the cats will come to you by that call…]. The rest died of different reasons..
Pussie 2 and Meese were competing each other to deliver as beautiful kitten as they can get, as if to show to another who is the role model mother cat [Now it comes to a very difficult part of the story to tell, since I have purged some of my memory on my family cats].
Shortly speaking, Pussie 2 gave birth of Scuba 2 and Putih. Scuba 2 is just like older Scuba, the two of them were just like clone one another. When the older Scuba died of fighting with much stronger and older male cat, the same thing happen to Scuba 2 who just died recently after a heavy roof fighting with much older and stronger male cat. The difference is, I found the body of Scuba 2 lying on my roof with some badly wounds. Soon I buried him near the Bajita’s tombstone. Putih – a dotty red-and-black-on-white cat – is still alive until today but she rarely come to my house to ask for food, it seems that the neighbor take care of her.
The newest generation of Pussie 2 descendant was Kabut or Cloud in English. I name this red-striped-on-white cat Kabut because it is abbreviation of “Kucing Anak BUTa” [the blind kitten]. Yes, if you have a glance of Kabut, he looks like a healthy kitten. But if you gets closer to him, it is very obvious that his left eye is like having cataract, i.e. there is a white thin layer in front of his cornea. It was happened when three months ago (Kabut is 5 month old kitten when I write this blogs]. At the age of two months, he was brought down by his mother from my roof. When I tried to approach Kabut and his two siblings (both died later), the mother cat was acting very meanly, which is very common behavior for a mother cat. So were the two kittens. There was no chance I – as an amateur veterinary – can approach them and check their well being.
Yet, Kabut is now a very cute male kitten with an obvious stripes in his skin like a TPI logo [TPI = Televisi Pendidikan Indonesia, is one of 12 TV channels in Indonesia].
Now, it comes to the most interesting cat story. Meese, the female mother cat daughter of Pussie 2 tends to have her own dynasty. Having an affair with Tiger – a 75-cm Angora male cat – she always give births some extraordinary talented kittens. Tiger – a “bule” or “Caucasian” male cat as we use to call it – has a grey stripe color. Meese itself has a “dirty” grey color or “kembang asem” [tamarind flower color]. Consequently, most of her kittens were grey too. And grey seems to be the favorite color for the school kid thief, either for “for fun” motive or “commercial” motive [the latter I am not sure though].
After several thefts, there was a male grey-color cat name Kimi – I named him after Kimi Raikonen, the much praised young Formula 1 driver he himself is my daughter favorite driver. Kimi was very adorable cat. When my wife had to go for an advance military education for two-month long, Kimi stayed with me to guard the house. It was very sad though in memorizing the way Kimi was missing. At one time, a heavy rain fell in my neighborhood which lasted for two hours. I mean it, two heavy rain in two hours !!!. You know what it means ? It means the water was everywhere, it was as deep as my knee. Kimi was out of the house at the time, all of his trail (of pee) were missing, swept by the floor, and consequently he were not be able to track the right direction to my house. I lost him, he must have swept by the flood. Kimi was Missing in Action [declared MIA without a purple heart medal !]..
The newest generation of Meese kittens were three siblings : Gentong, Lontong, and Bolong. Gentong is a male cat with golden color. At the time of this blogs writing, Gentong is 9-month old.
He is a very very intelligent cat, only second intelligently to Borneo who can do arithmetic addition. Gentong has a very long tail, and he can do floor sweeping and floor moping [too sad, I have to admit that in this time I have no time – and no money – to buy even the simplest digital camera to record all of these interesting cat things]. Usually when I sweep the floor, Gentong will hold the sweeper and move wherever the sweeper is being moved. Similarly when I mop the floor, Gentong will move around following my move. And I am telling you, Gentong can sweep or mop as large as 100 square meters of floor !
Bolong were short-lived. You got it ! He was stolen coz his color is the thief favorite color, that is grey ! He was stolen where he was 4 or 5-month old. Lontong, the female cat sibling of Gentong, has a “dirty” grey [kembang asem] color. She was an exact copy of her mother. The only different is, her eyes are rounder than that of her mother.
I just hope that I can keep all of these cats as long as I can….so you all can still read my weblogs on my Friendster. Weblogs about cats. Boring ? No, it is very rewarding….
